Raising Awareness, Saving Lives: World Tsunami Awareness Day 2023
Every year on November 5th, we come together to commemorate and raise awareness about the devastating impact of tsunamis. This day serves as a global platform to promote a culture of preparedness and resilience in the face of this natural disaster.
About World Tsunami Day
World Tsunami Day aims to highlight the importance of early warning systems, community preparedness, and sustainable development to reduce the risk of tsunamis. This day was established by the United Nations in 2015 in memory of the Indian Ocean Tsunami that occurred on December 26, 2004, resulting in a massive loss of life and property.
Our Mission
At the heart of World Tsunami Day is a mission to educate and empower communities to build resilience and protect themselves from the destructive forces of tsunamis. By fostering a better understanding of the science behind tsunamis and promoting preparedness measures, we strive to create safer environments for vulnerable populations.
